Magic Outdoor Media aims to make digital outdoor advertising affordable and create a huge footprint for advertising clients across the African continent. This will be achieved through the use of beautiful, uniquely designed and smart digital billboards (as it exists in other developed continents) installed in all major cities in Africa.
​The first phase of the project will involve the installation of eighty (80) digital billboards of various sizes in eight (8) African cities within a period of thirty six (36) months.
Magic Outdoor Media (MOM) will partner with a Light-Emitting Diode (LED) manufacturing company in China to supply the digital advertising screens for Africa. Magic Outdoor Media (Pty) Limited is a subsidiary of 2414 Media Group based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
As at year 2012, the South African out-of-home advertising (OOH) industry is worth R3.7 billion. South Africa’s out-of-home advertising (OOH) segment will grow by an estimated 7.2% CAGR to R5.2 billion in 2017, accounting for 11.5% of total advertising spend. Major infrastructure projects, including the launch of the Gautrain and improvements to OR Tambo International Airport have helped boost growth in South Africa’s OOH market. OOH revenues are set to exceed R5 billion in 2017.
Nigeria’s out-of-home advertising (OOH) market will be worth approximately R2.3 billion (US$284 million) in 2017, growing by a CAGR of 6.8%. The Kenyan OOH market will be worth a forecast R1.3 billion (US$153 million) in 2017, growing by a CAGR of 9.4%. An increasingly urbanised market will help drive this growth, as will increased use of traffic hotspots and airline travel with airports becoming a key site for OOH advertising.
If you have very high goals, then an investment in the digital outdoor advertising “billboard” business is the best for you. The upside is huge, and the downside is negligible.
